whoshro (Unguwar Rogo), one of the villages in Ugom Community, is located in Maro Ward, Kajuru Local Government Area, Southern Part of Kaduna State. Came under attack a few hours after today’s church service on Sunday, 28th December, 2025. This attack occurred at a time when community members had just returned from worship and were settling back into their homes, believing they were safe within their community.
The terrorists came in their numbers, riding on about ten (10) motorcycles, with each motorcycle carrying three persons. All three persons on each motorcycle were armed with guns—both the riders and the passengers. Immediately upon arrival in the village, they began shooting sporadically, creating panic, fear, and confusion among innocent residents, including women, children, and the elderly, who fled in different directions to save their lives.
As at the time of releasing this statement, our union is yet to discover any dead body. However, two women—one of whom is a nursing mother who ran away and abandoned her infant baby out of fear—are still unaccounted for as at the time of this statement. The community is deeply worried about their safety and well-being. In addition to this, five motorcycles belonging to community members were taken by the terrorists, while one motorcycle was burnt to ashes, further worsening the economic hardship already faced by the victims.
This same community was attacked on New Year’s Day, 01/01/2025, during which the attackers burnt an ECWA Church, houses, and the pastorium. This earlier attack left many families displaced and traumatized. Since then, up till now, the church is yet to be rebuilt, and the community continues to bear the painful consequences of that incident without adequate intervention or support.
This remains our usual situation across the entire Ugom Community, for more than a decade now. As our people continue to live under constant fear, uncertainty, and repeated attacks. We are calling on the government to please stop saying that our people are now enjoying peace and to urgently come to our rescue by deploying adequate security, protecting lives and property, and restoring confidence among our people.
